This book details Vernon Macan
Mike Riste, Honorary Historian at the BC Golf House has written a biography on AV Macan, a notable golf course architect in the Pacific Northwest with whom most golfers are unfamiliar.
History of A.V. Macan
Macan, an Irishman who emigrated to Canada is credited with many outstanding designs in BC and right down the coast to California. Courses like Shaughnessy G&CC (site of this year’s Canadian Open), Marine Drive, Victoria GC, Royal Colwood, Nanaimo and many more are all well know for their interest, challenge, beauty and heritage. AV Macan was also an accomplished player and a trophy in his name is presented to the PNGA Men’s Amateur Champion.
Proceeds
Mike Riste has graciously directed all the the proceeds from every book sold to the ” Raise the Roof ” fund at the BC Golf House. The cedar shake roof is in need of replacement and with no source of capital funds other than donations, this gesture is both generous and exceptional.
